Pettigrew & Associates was contracted by CSW Contractors, Inc. to perform materials testing for the $8 million dollar rail terminal project to support oil field drilling, located northeast of Loving in Eddy County, NM.

The scope of work consisted of creating approximately 37,000 linear feet of new track construction and construction of a sand storage system for frac sand import and crude oil export. Major concrete work consisted of the sand silo system which included a 160’ tunnel section comprised of 1’ 6” thick walls averaging 16’ thick with a large 150’ x100’ x 5’ thick silo slab above the tunnel. At completion, the system will have six vertical sand storage bins with the capacity to hold 55 million lbs of sand.

Pettigrew & Associates provided materials testing for the project, including concrete, aggregate and soil compaction testing. The aggressive project schedule was met on-time and on-budget.
