Project Description

EASTERN NEW MEXIO RURAL WATER LINE

The Eastern New Mexico Rural Water Supply Project is a $4.347 million project, when complete, will deliver a reliable water supply to Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, Grady, Elida, Melrose, Portales, Texico and Roosevelt and Curry Counties. The project will replace current groundwater supplies from the Ogallala (or High Plains) Aquifer with a renewable surface water supply (Ute Reservoir). Construction of Ute Dam was begun in 1959 and was completed in 1963, creating Ute Reservoir to store water for this purpose. The members of the Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority (ENMWUA) include the communities of the City of Clovis, Town of Elida, City of Portales, and the City Texico. Pettigrew & Associates provided surveying for multiple phases of this large project, including the most recent phase at Cannon Air Force Base. Surveys include boundary surveys throughout the entire route, ROW and construction staking.
